CKSC students showed exemplary performance in different fields of competitions.

Jemilyn Kaw, a member of the CKSC Youth Choir, emerged as champion in the Foreign Language Song Festival sponsored by Lyceum University of the Philippines last February 21.

CKSC defeated NU 60-51 to annex the crown in the inaugural Got Skills Tournament U13 Division. The Blue Dragons, finishing the elimination round with a 4-1, went through a wringer in their semi-final game against De La Salle Zobel 55-53. The hard-earned victory earned them a spot in the championship game versus the favoured NU Bullpups. The game was close all the way, with neither team leading by more than 7 points. Led by tournament and finals MVP Joshua Ramirez, CKSC slowly pulled away in the 4th quarter before finally pulling off a hard earned 60-51 win. It was a fitting victory for Coach John Sia’s boys as they prepared long and hard for this prestigious tourney. The win was a fitting follow up to the 2013 FCAAF Aspirants Basketball Tournament that they won last December 2013.

On the same day, the Blazing Dragons scout basketball team took 1st runner-up honors among 7 teams in the 8th Filipino-Chinese Schools Alliance Basketball League, also known as the Dr. “James Dy Cup 2”. In a championship game watched by hundreds of cheering schoolmates, diehard alumni, and supportive family members, the Blazing Dragons were definite underdogs against MMBL Division IV Champion Jubilee Christian Academy at Sure Shots Sportsville. But with a never-say-die spirit reminiscent of Jaworski’s heyday at the Philippine Basketball Association, the team slowly crawled back from a double digit deficit to within a single point, 59-60, with 2:18 left in the game. That’s when four straight fouls over a short spread of time hounded the home team, enabling JCA to escape the likely upset axe and to retain the title which the latter also won last year. Nevertheless, it was a stint for the Blazing Dragons whom everyone was proud of, more particularly in the eyes of the predominantly CKSC crowd that further bolstered the true essence of school spirit. As special award, team skipper Eduard Erick Tan also made it to the mythical 5 selection.

Members of the CKSC Swimming Team, the AquaDragons, represented their respective family associations and clans to the 9th Grand Family Invitation Swim Meet held at Rizal Memorial Swimming Pool last February 16, 2014. The Grand Family Association is the conglomeration of different Chinese family associations sharing common ancestry or family surnames. This swimming competition aimed at promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie among the participants.

The following AquaDragons splashed their way to various awards:

1) Brandon Willis W. Sing (蔡尚宏) – Most Outstanding Swimmer with 7 gold medals in 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 4x50m Medley Relay, and 4x50m Backstroke Relay

6) Lance Xavier Lim (蔡凱勝) – 1 bronze medal in 4x50m Medley Relay.

Mike Jericho Mojica and Robert Angelo Martin, both members of the Blazing Dragons scout basketball team, teamed up with their classmates, Erwin John Lee and Wilson Andy Ang, to join the 3-on-3 Basketball Challenge sponsored by Cherifer Vitamins. The team took 2nd runner-up honors in the pocket tourney behind participating students from San Beda College and University of the East, winning medals and gift packs.

Keep up the good work, CKSians!
