The Filipino Department, under the lead of Mrs. Felicita Alterado, of our High School level staged a very colorful and successful “Tara Na, Biyahe Na” near the Elementary Lobby of the Main Campus last August 27, 2010.

In coordination with the Technology and Livelihood Education (T.L.E.) under Mrs. Zenaida Borja and Social Studies Department, under Mrs. Judith Penaflor, the program started with the parade of students, teachers, and administrators wearing the various Philippine costumes from the thirteen regions of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The ubiquitous terno of Baro at Saya, and Barong Tagalog blended beautifully with the more exotic costumes of the Igorots, Batanguenos, the Tiboli of South Cotabato, the Muslim Filipinos of Mindanao, etc.

Teachers and school administrators were able to taste the delicious native dishes prepared by the Fourth Year high school students under the supervision of the Livelihood Education teachers. The kare-kare, kaldereta, grilled seafoods, danggit, dinuguan, and sweets and all-time favorite desserts like halo-halo, kakanin, sorbetes, etc. were savored with gusto by the staffs. In between dining was the presentation of song and dance numbers by selected high school teachers and students.

The program ended with the announcement of winners of Most Cooperative Group, won by the Mathematics Department; Best in Costumes, won by Mrs. Brita Almazan (T.L.E. teacher), who wore a red baro’t saya and Mr. Faisal Alonto (Science teacher), who wore an authentic Muslim attire.
