CKSC School of Music Presents Two Solo Piano Recitals at the Auditorium

In line with the celebration of the 70th Foundation Anniversary of Chiang Kai Shek College, the School of Music will present two solo piano recitals by two outstanding music students, Gilbert Jacob Que and Jan Bendric Co Borbe on June 28 (Sunday) and July 5 (Sunday), respectively, 3:00 p.m. at the Auditorium.

Gilbert Jacob S. Que

Gilbert Jacob S. Que, 18 years old and only son of Engr. Gregorio S. Que and Mrs. Jacqueline T. Que, was a student of CKSC from preschool to high school. He is currently a sophomore taking up AB in Communications, majoring in Advertising and Public Relations in Ateneo de Manila University. He has been taking piano lessons since 1996 in the School of Music under the tutelage of Ms. Julie S. Ching. His solo piano recital will be this coming June 28 (Saturday). His repertoire will include: Prelude and Fugue No. 2 in C Minor and No. 5 in D Major by Johann Sebastian Bach, Waltz in C Sharp Minor Op. 64, No. 2 by Frederic Chopin, Ballade in G Minor Op. 118, No. 3 by Johannes Brahms, Three Preludes for Piano by George Gershwin, and Piano Concerto No. 11 in D Major Hob XVIII by Franz Josef Haydn. The orchestral accompaniment will be rendered on the second piano by Ms. Julie Sey Ching, his mentor.

Jan Bendric Borbe

Jan Bendric Borbe is 17 years old and son of Mr. Alexander and Mrs. Geraldine Borbe. Just like Gilbert, he studied at CKSC from kindergarten to high school level. He just graduated from high school last March, 2009. He is presently taking up B.S. Medical Technology at U.S.T. At age 11, he began his piano lessons at the CKSC School of Music under Ms. Mary Evans Villalon. His solo piano recital will be held on July 5 (Saturday)

His programme repertoire will include: Three Part Invention No. 12 & 13 by Johann Sebastian Bach, Sonata in F Major K 547 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Etudes in C#minor op. 10 no. 4, op 25 no. 7and Revolutionary Etude op. 10 no. 12 by Chopin, Concert Etude op. 2 no. 6 by Henselt, L’isle Joyeuse by Debussy, Lotus Land by C. Scott, Bulgarian Rhythm #6 from Mikrokosmos vol. 6 by Bartok and Maharlika Concerto by Sacramento. (orchestral part on the second piano by Ms. Mary Evans Villalon. The Maharlika Concerto was a piece commissioned by former First Lady Imelda Marcos as a birthday present to the late President Ferdinand Marcos. It was composed by Sacramento and first performed on September 7, 1973 at the Malacanang Palace by Prof. Raul Sunico with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of late Luis Valencia.
