CKSC Harvests Medals in Various Sports Events

Once again, the Chiang Kai Shek College has proven her prowess not only academically but also in the field of sports.

In the recently concluded Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTLBA), the first ever Girls Division was won by our high school team, the Lady Dragons. This team, coached by Diana Sy with Cristina De La Cruz and Kimberly Merillo as assistant coaches was also Grand Slam Champions in the Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF), the Palarong Maynila and the Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA).

The Boys’ Aspirant Team (14 years and under), Little Dragons was First Runner-Up in the MMTLBA. It was coached by Arsenio Dysangco with Sunny King, Calvin Li, Eddie Reyes and Boy De Vera as assistant coaches.

The Junior Team (Boys’ High School Team), Blue Dragons was also First Runner Up against Xavier School. It was coached by Sunny Co with Arsenio Dysangco, Sunny King and Joel Yap as assistant coaches. Last year, this team was champion. The team captain, Justine Chua, a senior high will be playing for Ateneo’s Blue Eagle next school year.

Ernest John Obiena, a grade 6 pupil managed to snatch silver in the 110-M Hurdles in the recently concluded NCR Meet sponsored by the Department of Education this February at the Rizal Memorial Oval Track.

Lastly, the Filipino-Chinese Scout Club, Rotary Club of Bagumbayan and Skywalker Basketball Camp of Samboy Lim organized the Baden Powell Cup Basketball Tournament. The CKSC Scout Dragons (Boy Scout Team) won the Championship for the 3rd consecutive year. It was coached by Alvin Cagalingan with Michael Marc Chua and Glench Jerwinne Ang as assistants. Hobard Jonn Kennie J. Lim, the captain of the team received the Most Valuable Player with Senator Richard Gordon awarding him. Two of the players, Kelvin T. Tanlimco and Hark Jaestin S. Cuenca, were two of the Mythical Five Selection awardees from all the players from the 7 participating schools: CKSC, St. Stephen’s High School, Grace Christian High School, Hope Christian High School, Philippine Pasay Chung Hua Academy, Philadelphia High School, and Philippine Cultural High School. Weena Grace D. Tiu won the Best Muse Award and the 21-member CKSC Scout Mover was declared Champion in the Agnes Baden Powell Cup for Cheer Dance Competition.
